Supplemental oxygen needs have increased a little these days in Yangon Region, according to some charity organizations.

“It is three or four days since we have provided oxygen. Previously, we provided about 15 cylinders of oxygen a day. Now, there are 35 or 40 we have to give free daily,” said U Zaw Min Latt, an official from Nwe Aye Mosque aid organization.

Till three or four days ago, there were only a few Covid-19 patients who needed oxygen.

“These days, cases have increased. Previously, a few people came to use to bring oxygen. But there are more coming these days. We are now a little bit busy with sending patients and providing oxygen,” he added.

There were a lot of oxygen needs in the Covid-19 third wave in Myanmar. Currently, help with transporting patients and providing supplemental oxygen has increased a little, said Ko Min Din from Mitta Thingaha Free Funeral Service Society in East Dagon Township.

“Even authorities have asked us for help for Covid-19. Some people going abroad provide us money for our car fuel. Authorities have not provided much. Cases are likely to increase a little,” Ko Min Din said.

Oxygen needs remain normal in Twantay Township, said an official from Seikta Thukha aid organization in the township.

According to daily announcements of Covid-19 caseload in February, most of the cases are in Yangon Region.

A cluster of cases were found in Mingalardon Township when more than 700 workers from a lens factory tested positive for the coronavirus. Some of them are in respective hospitals while some are in isolated places.

During the third wave of Covid-19, oxygen needs increased with queues of people at oxygen plants in Yangon Region to get oxygen supplies. Moreover, prices skyrocketed.
