Woman injured by homemade landmine explosion in Thanbyuzayat Township

According to local sources, a woman from Yetagon village, located by the Thanbyuzayat-Anankwin-Phayathonezu road in Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State, was injured by a homemade landmine explosion on the evening of August 30.

The victim, named Ma Nge Nge Htwe, a 32-year-old resident of Yetagon village in Thanbyuzayat Township, stepped on a homemade landmine while digging for yam in a rubber plantation near the village monastery around 5 p.m. on August 30, along with her husband, according to a local resident.

"The blast caused injuries to Ma Nge Nge Htwe's right leg and hand. Her husband carried her back to the village, and the local social assistance rescue team then transported her to the Thanbyuzayat Township Hospital," the resident continued.

Due to the landmine explosion, Ma Nge Nge Htwe sustained one injury to her right arm, five injuries to her right thigh, and one laceration to her right cheek, the resident added.

It is also reported that on August 22, Ko Soe Than, who was cutting firewood in a rubber plantation near the monastery in Yetagon village, Thanbyuzayat Township, was similarly injured by a homemade landmine explosion, suffering injuries to his legs and hands.
