Union level dignitaries including Vice President (1) Myint Swe cast their advance votes for the 2020 general election at Polling Station No (1) in Zeyatheikdi Ward, Zabuthriyi Township, Nay Pyi Taw, Union Territory, on October 30.

Vice President (1), union ministers, deputy ministers and members of union level organizations applied for early voting with Application Form (15) which is exclusive to those who cannot go to their native constituencies due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

“Yesterday, about four ministers came here to vote. I can’t remember their names. This morning we started opening our polling station at 8 am. (Union Minister) Dr Win Mya Aye came to vote. This morning also, Vice President and a member of his family came to cast their ballots. They came here like ordinary civilians,” said Tin Mya, chairman of Zeyatheikdi Ward Election Sub-commission.

Zeyatheikdi Ward is mostly inhabited by departmental heads from various government ministries.

“This ward has a lot of high-ranking officers. As ours is Polling Station No (1) in Nay Pyi Taw area, we have to put everything in place in a systematic manner,” he said.

There are three polling stations in Zeyatheikdi Ward—2,137 voters for Polling Station No (1), 2,225 voters for Polling Station No (2) and 2,134 voters for Polling Station No (3).

For the voters aged 60 and above, there are 296 for Polling Station No (1), 142 for Polling Station No (2) and 48 for Polling Station No (4).

“We have had 168 early voters including the votes collected door to door yesterday as those voters are in poor health condition. Thirty votes were collected door to door. Today, we can expect more voters because today is the first waxing day of Thadingyut,” Tin Mya said.

President Thein Sein and State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi cast their advance votes at the office of Zabuthiri Township Election Sub-commission on October 29.
