UPDJC representatives to have informal discussion during foreign study tour

The Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC) comprising the representatives from the government, the parliament, Tatmadaw, group of ethic armed organizations and group of political parties is going to have informal discussions during foreign study tour, said Phado Saw Tardo Hmu, General Secretary of the Karen National Union (KNU), the secretariat member of the UPDJC.

The UPDJC representatives are going on study tour to Norway and Switzerland from September 26 to October 6 and the secretariat members of the UPJDC left by flight on September 24.

“We are going to have informal discussions during the study tour like a brainstorming session. All stakeholders will express their different ideas and views on peace process. I am going to voice as I understand. They are also the same matter. We are going to discuss possibilities in the brainstorming session,”said Phado Saw Tardo Hmu.  

 Those who are going on the study tour are Phado Saw Tardo Hmu, General Secretary of the KNU, Colonel Sai Ngin, Secretary of the RCSS, Vice-Chairman Khun Myint Tun of the PNLO, Vice-Chairman Ye Baw Myo Win of the ABSDF and Saw Mya Yazar Lin, CEC member of the ALP.

The government has a plan to hold the annual ceremony to mark the second anniversary of NCA signing which falls on October 15. The government will also call the JICM and resume official meetings on peace process.

“We will meet again. We will adjust ourselves what to do. We can’t meet yet among EAOs,” said Phado Saw Tardo Hmu.
