The Union Election Commission (UEC) stated that no individual whose candidate application had been rejected was later re-announced as eligible to stand as a parliamentary candidate.
Responding to a media inquiry that asked, “Among the 86 people disqualified for failing to meet candidate eligibility requirements, are there any who filed appeals? Have any appeals been successful? Will the list of successful appellants be released?” the UEC gave this clarification.
The UEC explained that, in accordance with Section 35 of the relevant parliamentary election law, candidate name lists for each constituency were posted on October 19, 2025, using Forms (10), (10-A), and (10-B) at the respective sub-commission offices.
The UEC added that after the candidate lists were posted, no one who had filed an appeal or submitted a petition for reconsideration had been re-announced as eligible. In other words, no one whose application had been rejected was later declared qualified to stand as a parliamentary candidate.
Dr. Thet Thet Khine, Chairperson of the People’s Pioneer Party (PPP), said at the PPP’s election announcement event on November 1 that she had submitted two petitions to the UEC after being disqualified as a parliamentary candidate.
The UEC’s latest clarification states that no candidate has been reinstated or re-announced as eligible.
