Two people were wounded in a mine explosion in Kantbalu Township, Sagaing Region, according to local sources.
Receiving information that there was an explosion at 5 pm on May 12 at a place about a mile distant from Segyi Village in Kantbalu Township, security forces went to the scene. After investigation it was learnt that U Thaung Htun, aged 48, and his wife Daw Nwe Nwe Aye, 48 also, happened to step on a land mine planted there by a terrorist group when they left the village for their farm. The mine exploded and the couple was wounded after being hit by shrapnel. They were taken to Kantbalu Township People’s Hospital for treatment.
On the same day, security personnel upon hearing that there was an explosion in Ward-3 of Myaing Township, Magway Region, they rushed to the scene. A homemade mine planted by a terrorist group in an unoccupied house had exploded. Due to the explosion, the roof and furniture were damaged by shrapnel.
At 9 am on the same day, after receiving information about an explosion near Aungchantha lane, Kanaungsu Ward, Hinthada Township in Ayeyawady Region, security forces rushed over to the place. They found that the explosion came from a handmade mine. No one was hurt in the explosion.
Security personnel are conducting investigations to find and arrest the perpetrators responsible for the abovementioned attacks.
