Authorities seized a large consignment of illegal drugs worth about Ks11.7 billion in Natmauk Township, Magway Region, reportedly intended for delivery to a township-level figure linked to the AA (Arakan Army) group in Ann, Rakhine State.

Acting on a tip-off on April 4, 2026, security forces intercepted two vehicles transporting the drugs along the route from Yamethin to Padan. A Toyota Prado and a light truck were stopped near a checkpoint and a nearby village. Three suspects were arrested.

Officers discovered 7.8 million stimulant tablets hidden inside 39 sacks concealed under lime bags. The total estimated street value of the drugs is around Ks11.7 billion (about Ks1,500 per tablet).

According to the suspects’ statements, the drugs were allegedly arranged by a fugitive, Kyaw Win Aung (aka Pa-O), and transported from the Wan Hai area to Kalaw Township before being routed through several towns toward Padan. From there, they were reportedly intended for onward delivery to Ann in Rakhine State.

Authorities said legal action is being taken against those arrested, while efforts continue to capture remaining suspects and uncover others involved. Officials also urged the public to report drug trafficking information confidentially, with rewards offered for credible tips leading to arrests.
