It is reported that schools in Nyaungdon Township where floodwaters have receded have been cleaned and reopened for normal classes.

Basic education schools in Ayeyawady Region that were temporarily closed due to rising river levels and heavy rainfall are being cleaned and reopened as the water recedes. On September 3, Deputy Minister for Education U Nay Myo Hlaing inspected the progress of cleaning and reopening the schools and arranged for necessary assistance.

In Nyaungdon Township, he visited Patup Village Basic Education Primary School, Thazin Ye Kyaw Village Basic Education High School (Branch), Thazin Village Basic Education Primary School, Pan Seik Village Basic Education Primary School and Bawathit Basic Education Middle School (Branch). He inspected the cleaning and reopening of schools where floodwaters had receded, the replacement and provision of school textbooks, stationery and uniforms damaged or swept away by the floods, and preparations to provide catch-up lessons so that students would not fall behind in their studies once all schools could fully reopen. He also observed students attending classes in temporary classrooms. Schoolbags and stationery were provided to primary-level students, while incentive allowances were presented to teachers.

Similarly, the Deputy Minister visited Basic Education High School (Lei Kine) and Basic Education Primary School (Htani Daunt) in Maubin Township, inspected the situation and arranged for necessary assistance.

Later, at the Pyin Nyar Yadana Hall of No. 2 Basic Education High School in Maubin Township, he met with district and township education officers, school principals and teachers. The Ayeyawady Region Education Officer and attendees reported on the condition of school buildings and ongoing educational activities. The Deputy Minister responded to the reports and arranged for necessary measures, while incentive allowances were provided to flood-affected staff and students.
