MANDALAY-----Two locals from Kyauk Ta Lone village in Moegok Township, Mandalay Region were abducted on December 5.

A 60 years old Than Kyi and her son-in-law were abducted at her shop. A local who doesn’t want to be identified said that three armed men arrived at their shop with white pajero vehicle and abducted them at gun-point. A battalion from Leigyi heard gunshots and went there. Two sons left at the shop told the incident. Nobody knows who did this.

On December 4, a group of armed men kidnapped SP bakery owner Kyaw Win in Moegok. TNLA armed group confirmed that it was done by their low rank level soldiers. But, no armed group confirmed who did this for this abduction according to Moegok police station.

“We are in the process of filing a lawsuit on the case but her two sons were fleeing and so no contact was available,” said an officer from the Moegok police station.

A township incharge from the SSPP/SSA told Tachileik news agency that the abduction this time was carried out by SSPP/SSA and it may have been related to a drug case. He added that no beating or torture has been done to the abductees although they were abducted.

Due to the recent clash that broke out on November 24 between military and TNLA armed groups, there were a thousand of internally displaced people in Moegok.
