Two electricity towers were blown up near Duurineseik village, Thaton Township, Mon State, yesterday evening, according to the sources.

The electricity towers are 230KV power lines which linked to Thaton-Hpa-an-Mawlamyaing Townships.

No.17 electricity tower near Duurineseik village was attacked with mines around 4pm of March 27th as well as No.18 electricity tower was blown up around 8:45 pm of March 27th, according to the Electrical Department.

After two towers had been blown up, electricity blackout occurred in Mawlamyaing Township, Mon State, since the beginning of yesterday night, according to the locals.

“The electricity had been switched off yesterday night. But, the electricity was available this early morning. Yesterday night, the whole of Mawlamyaing Township faced electricity outage,” said a local from Mawlamyaing Township.

As electricity towers were blown up, Thaton and Paung Townships were suffering from power blackout.

The relevant power department is now repairing the damaging electricity towers.
