A large teak tree fell across the Thaton-Hpa-An road in Bin Hlaing Ward, Thaton Township, temporarily blocking traffic and causing a road closure. The incident occurred amid ongoing severe weather in Mon State, which has recently experienced heavy rain, strong winds, and tornadoes.
Emergency response teams from the Thaton Township Fire Department, the Akyinnar Twelat Social Assistance Association, the White Heart Social Assistance Association, and local residents quickly worked together to remove the tree and clear the road. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The road was cleared and reopened to traffic at around 4:30 pm., restoring normal travel in the area.
Mon State has seen a series of weather-related incidents in recent days, including damage to homes and religious buildings, as well as downed trees and utility poles.
