Toyota Motor Company started operating in Thilawa and started selling two types of vehicles, said some vehicle dealers.

It is known that the two types of vehicles sold by Toyota Company are Hilux Revo and Hilux Adventure, and the value of the vehicle is 150 million kyats and 170 million kyats, some dealers said.

"If you want to buy, you have to place a pre-order. The pre-order is 200,000 kyats. We cannot say exactly when we will get the vehicle," a vehicle dealer told The Daily Eleven newspaper.

Those who have previously placed pre-orders will be given priority, and those who wish to purchase vehicles must place pre-orders.

Nikkei Asian reported that Toyota's vehicle manufacturing plant has started operating in Thilawa Industrial Zone in Kyauktan Township, Yangon Region.

The factory is currently in operation, but it will only be able to produce a small amount and it started operating last September, according to the news.

The vehicle factory was scheduled to start operating in February 2021, but due to political and economic turmoil, it was only able to start operating after 19 months.

According to the original plan announced in May 2019, Toyota will invest more than US$ 52 million to produce 2,500 Hilux pickups per year. Toyota's Myanmar unit is 85 per cent owned by Toyota and 15 percent by Toyota Tsusho, according to NIKKEI ASIAN.
