It has been reported that the Ayeyawady Bridge (Yatanathinga) — which connects Kyaukmyaung in Sagaing Region and Singu in Mandalay Region — was destroyed by landmines planted by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and the MDY-PDF armed group.

The bridge, part of the Shwebo–Kyaukmyaung–Singu–Letpanhla road, was blown up at around 6:30 a.m. on October 29, according to local sources.

The Ayeyawady Bridge (Yatanathinga) was constructed under the administration of former President U Thein Sein, beginning on April 16, 2010, and officially opened on July 24, 2013. The bridge is 2,480 feet long and built as a steel-reinforced concrete bridge.

Previously, on August 24, 2025, the TNLA also blew up the Gokteik Bridge on the Mandalay–Lashio railway line between Nawnhkho and Kyaukme townships.

The Gokteik Bridge, located in northern Shan State, is over 2,200 feet long and spans a deep gorge about 500 feet wide, connecting two steep cliffs. It was designed by Sir A.M.R. Rendel & Co. in London and constructed by the Pennsylvania & Maryland Bridge and Construction Co. of the United States in 1899, completed in 1900, and opened for use in 1903.

At the time, with a total height of 825 feet (including 320-foot-high steel towers), it was recognized as the highest steel bridge in the world. Built with 4,311 tons of steel and about one million rivets, the bridge became famous for its impressive engineering and scenic beauty, making it one of Myanmar’s most iconic and historically significant bridges.
