Three wounded in explosion near Sagaing Myoma Market

An explosion occurred near the central gate of Sagaing Myoma Market in Sagaing Region at about 8.15 pm on May 19 injuring three people.

Shootings were heard in the area after the explosion, according to residents living near the market.

Some witnesses also said two young people on a motorbike passing through the area were arrested.

“Two men have been arrested for interrogation about the explosion,” a security official said.

The three wounded are said to be war veterans.

Following the explosion near Myoma market, sounds of explosions and gunfire were also heard in Phayya Kwatthit Ward and Shweminwun Ward, said local residents. But they could not be confirmed.  

Sagaing already experienced a hand-made bomb blast near the checkpoint of Ayeyawady Bridge (Yadanabon) on May 12, an explosion near the social security office, the road transport administration department and basic education high school No (1) on May 13 and explosions at the corner of Strand Road and before the Education Degree College. One person was reportedly hurt.
