Three more schools open in Nawnghkio, hospital resumes healthcare services

Nawnghkio Township in northern Shan State saw further progress in education and healthcare on August 20, with the opening of three more basic education schools. This brings the township’s total to 78 schools, now serving 9,672 students. Schools in the township had been closed for nearly a year but officially reopened on July 25, 2025, and continue to accept new enrollments.

In the healthcare sector, the Nawnghkio Township General Hospital, which was renovated and reopened on August 2, is now providing regular medical services. On August 20, the hospital treated 38 outpatients for malaria, influenza, and other general illnesses. Additionally, 36 local residents received blood tests, three were tested for malaria, and 34 patients are currently receiving inpatient care. Medical teams continue to provide essential health services to the local ethnic community.
