Three men and a woman shot dead in Laung Lone Township, Dawei District, Taninthayi Region on February 9 and 10 according to locals.
U Thar Lay, former village administrator of Sit Pyae village, Laung Lone Township was shot dead at his home around 4:00 pm on February 9.
“He was served as a village administrator of Sit Pyae village during NLD administration. After February 1, 2021, he didn’t work as a village administrator. It’s been over a year he’s been fleeing from this village,” said a local. Laung Lone Township PDF wrote on his social media that the attack was carried out by them.
On February 10 around 10:00 am, U Soe and wife Daw Kyi Than from Kayin Gyi village in Laung Lone Township were shot dead when they returned from the jetty in Pyingyi village. No one knows why they were killed and who carried out the assassination according to locals.
Eighty four years old U Maung Ngwe from Laung Lone Township was also shot dead by six men on three motor cycles on 12:00 pm on February 10. No group claims who carried out the killing.
From February 1, 2021 to December 31, 2022, there were 225 people killed due to armed conflicts in Taninthayi Region and 128 people were injured according to a report from Southern Monitor.
