Thick fogs may fall in some regions and states for about 10 to 17 days in January: DMH

Heavy fogs may fall in Yangon, Ayeyawady, Tanintharyi regions and Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah and Kayin states for about 10 to 17 days in January, according to a forecast from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) released on December 28.

According to the forecast, low pressure area may occur once in the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal. Weather is a few clouds over the North Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Rain or thundershowers are likely above normal in Thaninthayi Region, below normal in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway regions and Kachin, northern and eastern Shan, Chin, Rakhine states and about normal in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady regions and southern Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon states.

Rainy days are expected about 4 to 7 days in Taninthayi Region and Kachin State and about 1 to 3 days in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady regions and Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon states.

Night Temperature will be 1.5°C above normal of January average Temperatures  in Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, West Bago, Ayeyawady regions and Kachin, northern Shan, Chin, Rakhine states and about normal of January average Temperatures in Nay Pyi Taw, east Bago, Yangon, Taninthayi regions and southern and eastern Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon states.

Foggy days will be expected about 18 to 25 in Sagaing Region and Kachin, northern and eastern Shan, Mon states, 10 to 17 days in Yangon, Ayeyawady, Taninthayi regions and southern Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin states and 2 to 9 days in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago regions.
