SWRR Minister meets UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Win Myat Aye received Christine Schraner Burgener, UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Myanmar, at his office on the morning of January 25.

The union minister said he believed the special envoy would have more understandings of the situations as she has visited Myanmar five times. He expressed his thanks to the special envoy for her encouragement for the people to hold NVC cards.

The minister also explained the facts about drafting the strategy for the shutdown of IDP camps, preparations of factsheet for the reacceptance of IDPs for the accuracy of information and the formation of the committee for scrutinizing and vetting the public complaints and petitions by lower house parliament and on the humanitarian assistance being provided to the IDPs who fled due to the fights between the Tatmadaw and the Arakan Army (AA), according to the statement by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.
