Kyaw Tint Swe, Union Minister for State Counsellor Office, and Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation was attending General Debate of 74th Session of United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on September 25.

Myanmar delegation led by Kyaw Tint Swe, Union Minister for State Counsellor Office was attending the opening session of the General Debate of 74th Session of United Nations General Assembly at UN Headquarters in New York, the United States on September 24, together with Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation, Permanent Representative of Myanmar to UN Hau Do Suan and Myanmar Ambassador to US Aung Lin, according to the report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The General Debate of 74th Session of United Nations General Assembly will be held from September 24 to 30.

Kyaw Tint Swe, Union Minister for State Counsellor Office, is going to make a speech on General Debate 74th Session of United Nations General Assembly on September 28, the report said.

The opening session of the General Debate of 74th Session of United Nations General Assembly was attended by heads of States, heads of government organizations, and minister-level representatives from 193 countries, Secretary-General of United Nation Mr. Antonio Guterres and General Assembly President Mr. Tijjani Muhammad Bande. Secretary-General of United Nation Mr. Antonio Guterres and General Assembly President Mr. Tijjani Muhammad Bande made speeches and the general debate continued. Heads of 37 States including U.S President Donald Trump also delivered speeches on the occasion.

Union Minister Kyaw Tint Swe met Mr. Peter Maurer, the President of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on September 23 during which they focused on matters relating to emergency aid and humanitarian assistance to be provided to those who are subject to conflicts from conflict-affected areas.

Similarly, Union Minister Kyaw Tint Swe met U.S Under Secretary of States for Political Affairs Mr. David Hale at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on September 24 during which they spotlighted promotion of bilateral relations, progress of Myanmar’s democratic transition, peace process, national reconciliation and repatriation process of displaced persons and Rakhine issue, reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation, met Australian Foreign Minister The Hon Marise Payne at the United Nations Headquarters on September 23. During the meeting they discussed promotion of sustainable partnership cooperation between the two countries and ways to seek for the successful repatriation process.

Kyaw Tin pointed out that it is important both parties should comply with the provisions described in the agreement signed by Myanmar and Bangladesh. Those who are wishing to return native place are in panic to express their real desire because of the threats imposed by ARSA terrorists and that resulted in the obstacles to the repatriation process. There were those who returned home of their own volition. The capacity of security organizations should be upgraded for the sake of the security of those returnees and local people. The government is making attempts to have good environments in Rakhine State in cooperation with the ASEAN bloc and the UN and international assistance is of great importance.
