State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi is facing four more charges including a previous corruption charge, said her lawyer Min Min Soe.

“In Mandalay alone, there are two charges against her. In two other charges, one is against Mother (Aung San Suu Kyi), Dr Myo Aung, Ye Min Oo and Min Thu. Another charge is against three including Mother. But I don’t know them. At the 22 July court hearing, we will know details,” said advocate Min Min Soe on July 12.

The next trial for the State Counsellor charged under the anti-corruption law is due to take place at Mandalay Region High Court on July 22.

“On July 13, we will seek power of attorney for Mother and others such as Dr Myo Aung. For U Min Thu and U Ye Min Oo, we have to seek consultation. But we can do only after seeking power of attorney for Mother,”  the lawyer added.

At a press conference, the information team of the State Administration Council clarified the testimonies of former Yangon Region Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein and business tycoon Maung Weik saying that they had to pay money and other things to Aung San Suu Kyi.

Before that, lawsuits had been filed against for persons including the State Counsellor accusing her of breaching the procedures and disciplines in applying for 101.33 acres of land in Ottarathiri and 23.855 acres of land in Pobbathiri townships of Nay Pyi Taw in order to establish La Yaung Taw Horticulture Vocational School of the Daw Khin Kyi Foundation.
