Some of 29 fever clinics in the townships of Yangon Region have temporarily closed due to the ongoing situations, said Dr Kyaw Min Tun, in-charge of the community fever clinic.
“Some fever clinics have closed temporarily now. We are monitoring the situation. Some remain open. There are some closures but it’s just temporary. Yangon Region has 29 fever clinics. Of them, about 10 were closed in some places such as East Dagon,” he said.
Professor Dr Zaw Wai Soe, rector of the University of Medicine (1), reported on his Facebook page on February 8 that there are still over 400 patients at the public hospitals and Covid-19 treatment centers in Yangon.
“Till February 8, there are 329 Covid-19 patients at the treatment centers. The people’s hospitals have 48. Yesterday, there were 20 new cases. Private hospitals have 26 as well. So there are 403 in total. We have seen a significant drop. The daily number has been down to 1,000 over the past two weeks. For over the past four or five days, the number is just around 20. There might have been some immunity in our community,” he said.
He also called for continuing the Covid-19 guidelines such as wearing masks and social distancing.
Over 12,000 samples have been tested daily during the past 10 days and cases are dropping day by day, according to the ministry of health and sports.
Infection and mortality rates in the global pandemic is still increasing worldwide. There have been over 106 million cases and over 2.3 million deaths, according to WHO.
