Some countries are taking action against Myanmar and China biasedly but China will continuously stand for Myanmar in International arena said Dr.Zheng Zhihong, counselor of the Chinese embassy in Myanmar at the press brief held at the Governor’s Residence in Yangon on January 24.
Dr. Zheng Zhihong, counselor of the Chinese embassy in Myanmar, expressed that some countries are displaying biased actions against Myanmar and China. He emphasized that China remains steadfast in supporting Myanmar on the international stage. Dr. Zheng highlighted the perceived manipulation of political power, stressing the importance of democratic principles, human rights, and forming private groups. He noted that these principles align with the five principles of peaceful co-existence but may conflict with the inclusivity of economic globalization. Acknowledging challenges faced by both Myanmar and China, he affirmed China's commitment to playing a constructive role, supporting the peace process in northern Myanmar, and advocating for Myanmar's prompt attainment of peace and stability.
Myanmar holds significance in Southeast Asia and shares a border with China. The historic visit by the Chinese President in 2020 marked a pivotal moment, ushering Chinese-Myanmar relations into a new era. Over the past four years, bilateral ties have progressed, with China decisively supporting Myanmar's development path, said the counselor of the Chinese embassy in Myanmar.
Within the Belt and Road Initiative, Myanmar and China have consistently enhanced bilateral cooperation in economic, trade, agriculture, and diplomatic sectors. The supply chain and value chain between the two nations have seen improvements. China expresses its desire to embark on joint development initiatives with Asian and developing countries, Myanmar included. The aim is to share modern achievements and ensure that practical collaborations yield benefits for the people of both nations. In the realm of China-Myanmar relations, there are plans to strengthen cooperation in religious, education, culture, and public works. Notably, the "Swemyo Pauk Paw" relationship is actively engaged in efforts such as combating the COVID-19 pandemic, restoring Thabaynyu Pagoda, and facilitating the exchange of students.
The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) has provoked strong resentment among the people of Myanmar for vandalizing Buddhist pagodas and statues in various parts of Shan State. The Chinese embassy has conveyed its perspective through Eleven Media. Myanmar consistently adheres to the five principles of peaceful coexistence. Following Taiwan's election results, Myanmar announced its support for China's One China policy. Commending Myanmar's constructive and balanced approach, it was noted that the country has earned praise for maintaining such a stance.
