Authorities are continuing to demolish illegal buildings used for online scam and gambling operations in the second phase of the Shwe Kokko area, according to reports.
All buildings used for online scam and gambling operations in the KK Park area were demolished by January 9, following a three-phase demolition plan.
In Shwe Kokko, authorities identified 140 illegal buildings for demolition. The first phase, which involved 77 buildings, was completed on July 26.
The remaining 63 buildings were divided into three categories for the second phase, which began on October 6: 25 buildings to be demolished using heavy machinery, four to be destroyed by controlled explosions, and 34 to be dismantled floor by floor by manual labor because of their proximity to residential homes.
As of October 7, demolition work on one five-storey building had reached 40% completion. Preparatory work involving the placement of explosives was also underway at a six-storey building, according to the report.
