Shooting occurs on 10th Nawarat street in Thaketa

THAKETA------Shooting occurred at 10th Nawarat Street in Ward No.8 situated near Kamar Kyi Bridge in Thaketa Township, Yangon Region, in the evening of August 24th, according to the sources.

A person was arrested after the shooting.

“The security police members arrived in the Nawarat Street by two vehicles around 4pm of August 24th. Later, we heard the gunfire. The youths in the ward said that a man was arrested after the shooting,” said a neighbouring resident. 

Likewise, the security members searched in the apartment in the compound of Sabai Phyu Housing in Thingangyun Township, Yangon Region at night of August 24th. A youth jumped from the apartment in an attempt to escape the security force.

The neighbouring residents said that a vehicle took a man who jumped from the apartment and then some youths were arrested. 

The security force also hunted the building in Paduck Shwe War Street in Thamine Myothit No.1 Ward in Mayangone Township, Yangon Region, in the morning of August 23rd and there had been shootings and four youths were arrested.

Likewise, shootings occurred on Bayintnaung Bridge (No.2) in Hlinethaya Township, Yangon, on the morning of August 22.

Nearby residents said a gunfight broke out at the security post on the bridge in Hlinethaya at about 8.30 am.

“Gun firing occurred at the security post up the bridge to Hlinethaya. We heard gunfire. Then, the bridge was closed,” a nearby resident said.



A policeman was killed in the incident, and the bridge was reopened in the afternoon.
