Chairman of SAC, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing expressed Myanmar's desire to foster friendly relations with all ASEAN member states during a meeting with ASEAN Navy Chiefs and delegation leaders on October 10 at Zeyathiri Beikman Hall in Nay Pyi Taw. The gathering marked the lead-up to the 18th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting, hosted by Myanmar.
The Senior General highlighted the importance of maritime collaboration within the ASEAN region, emphasizing the need for joint rehearsals to prepare for natural disasters and the exchange of experiences in rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts. He called for enhanced cooperation among ASEAN navies during times of crisis.
During the meeting, the ASEAN Navy Chiefs and delegation leaders introduced themselves and expressed gratitude for Myanmar's warm hospitality. Discussions also focused on the plans for the upcoming Navy Chiefs’ Meeting and the potential for deeper collaboration among ASEAN navies.
Reiterating Myanmar's commitment to maintaining friendly relations with all ASEAN nations, the Senior General assured that the country would uphold the ASEAN spirit and adhere to its charters to strengthen ties. He thanked the Navy Chiefs and delegation leaders for their participation in the meeting.
Attendees included Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy, and Air) General Maung Maung Aye, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Vice-Admiral Htein Win, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung, and senior Tatmadaw officers, alongside Navy Chiefs and leaders from Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
