The authorities detained MP Kyaw Min Hlaing competed in Oakthara Thiri Constituency and MP Thant Zin Tun competed in Dhakina Thiri Constituency from National League for Democracy (NLD) party in Nay Pyi Taw on March 1 and 2, sources said.

They are detained at daylight, it said.

“The MP was eating breakfast at a tea shop in Thawahti junction when he was detained around 7:45 am. Around 50 people came to the teashop and a man pointed a gun at him. He told him to come with them and he told the teashop customers not to take out their hand phones. No one dare to stand up,” said a man who went out along with the MP Thant Zin Tun.

Police detained Min Thu, Chair of NLD party for Nay Pyi Taw in the early morning of February 25 while he was staying at Shwegondine hotel in Oakthara Thiri Township.
