SAC Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing departs for Russia on state visit

State Administration Council (SAC) Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, at the invitation of Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin, departed for a state visit to Russia today at 7:30 AM from Naypyitaw Military Airport via a special flight.

The high-level delegation led by the SAC Chairman was seen off at the airport by SAC Vice-Chairman Vice-Senior General Soe Win, SAC Secretary, SAC members, Union Ministers, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), the Naypyitaw Command Commander, and officials from the Russian Federation Embassy and Military Attaché Office in Myanmar.

The delegation accompanying the SAC Chairman includes SAC Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, SAC members General Nyo Saw and General Moe Aung, Union Ministers U Than Swe, Dr. Kan Zaw, U Ko Ko Lwin, Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw, Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Deputy Ministers, and military and civilian officials.

During the visit, the SAC Chairman is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, hold discussions with the Russian Prime Minister, and engage in talks with the Speakers of the Russian Parliament, among other high-level government officials. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations, enhance cooperation in economic and security sectors, and discuss strategic partnerships across various fields.

This year marks the 77th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Myanmar. Over the years, the two nations have seen progress in high-level exchanges, mutual visits, and multifaceted cooperation, with plans to further enhance these ties.

The SAC Chairman previously met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on September 7, 2022, during his attendance at the 7th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia. During that meeting, the two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation, relations, and international developments.
