Chairman of State Administration Council and Prime Minister Senior-General Mn Aung Hlaing received Foreign Secretary Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla of the External Affairs Ministry of India at the Zayyar Thiri Beikhman in Kone Myit Thar of Yangon Command Headquarters on the morning of December 23.

At the meeting, they frankly exchanged views on exchange of goodwill visits of two countries and two armed forces, promotion of bilateral trade due to bilateral cooperation, situation to manage the direct trade between the two countries, direct maritime trade process, further cooperation in development of border regions, prospects of investment from India in necessary infrastructures for generating electricity in Myanmar, training and teaching, technological assistance of India in development of agriculture and livestock sectors, sales and contribution of vaccines by India for prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19, discharging of State responsibilities by the Tatmadaw under the Constitution (2008) due to voting fraud in the 2020 general election, atrocities carried out by terrorist groups in the country, efforts for counter-terrorism, responses to atrocities against education and health staff, and efforts for ensuring peace and stability in the border regions of both countries.

Union Minister for Foreign Affairs Wunna Maung Lwin also met Foreign Secretary Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on December 22 and discussed matters on promoting bilateral relations and upgrading of multi sectors such as trade, investment, and development in border areas, regional and international affairs. 

Matters on Kalatan river project, Sittwe jetty project, upgrading of 69 bridges in Tamu-Kyikone-Kalaywa road, highway project of three countries, and construction of toll gate in Tamu border area were also discussed.

Union Minister General Yar Pyae of Government Office (1) also met Foreign Secretary at the Union Office on December 22 and discussed matters on bilateral relations, bilateral cooperation, to give COVID-19 vaccination at the India-Myanmar border areas, and implementation of Myanmar’s peace processes.
