Restrictions and directives were issued in Ayeyawady Region which is bordering Rakhine State.

The directive was issued in the late evening of 22 August by the Covid-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee.

Ayeyawady Region Minister Min Htay said: “Since there have been local transmissions in Sittway, this is of importance. It is necessary to wear masks. We wish to request all the people of the region. Care ought to be taken as Ayeyawady Region and Rakhine State are bordering each other. There are many departments in the region level Cociv-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee. After consultation, additional directives would be issued as and when the need arises. As there are Covid-19 committees in districts, townships and villages the directives are issued immediately. These directives ought to be followed. Those who fail to follow these directives will be prosecuted. We request all people to be vigilant and careful”.

Among the directives to follow for those coming to Ayeyawady Region from Rakhine State, for whatever purposes, they are to show letter of endorsement from their respective townships, wards or village. For those living stay at home in Rakhine State townships, and coming to Ayayawady Region without due permission from the authorities concerned or not being able to produce any invitation to come, they will be placed in community based facility quarantine for 14 days as arranged by the region. While in quarantine lab test will be conducted twice, and those not found with any virus as per lab test will be placed in home quarantine for 7 more days. For those although living stay at home in townships designated in Rakhine State and coming to Ayeyawady Region for official purposes in government departments, they will be placed under facility quarantine for seven days. They will undergo lab test on one day after arrival and five days later. Those found without any virus will be permitted to the departments concerned. For diplomatic staff, staff from UN agencies and staff from other intentional organizations. They ought to bring endorsements from the respective ministry and will be considered a special case; they will be placed in facility quarantine for seven days and will undergo a lab test. They will be allowed to go to the departments concerned when not fund to have any viruses. Those living in townships in Rakhine State and who have not been infected by virus upon coming to Ayayawady Region, they will undergo medical examination at the township entry gates and will be allowed entry only when not found with any sign of disease. Should any sign of disease be found, they will be sent to designated hospital for treatment.
