Dr Thet Thet Khaing, a member of the People's Pioneer Party (PPP)'s Central Executive Committee, said her party was established for the sake of the people who have no longer liked 'the red' or 'the green'.

'The red' refers to the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD) with ' the green' being the major opposition Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP).

The remark came after a media question at the ceremony to open the PPP office branch in Nay Pyi Taw and unveil the party signboard on December 22.

"We need various political parties to promote multi-party democracy. They are meant for people's choices. Reviewing the current political situation, for example, NLD has its staunch supporters and so does USDP. But there are those who no longer like red or green. We have established our party to target them, Dr Thet Thet Khaing said.

She said time was a great challenge to her party because all-out efforts must be made within a year before the next election.

"We have important plans such as making trips for organizational tasks, opening branch offices and rounding up candidates for running for election, she said.

She added the qualifications of her party's candidates will be posted on the party's Facebook page.

"We will not compete against the powerful party. Of the population of 54 million, over 30 million are eligible voters. Among those, there are hardcore supporters for the red as well as the green. Our party has come for those who are for neither the red nor the green to choose. Our aim is not to directly compete against them," she commented.

Dr Thet Thet Khaing said her party is programmatic with precise policies and work programs.
