A parliamentary candidate from the People’s Pioneer Party (PPP) submitted a letter of opposition to the Yangon Region Election Sub-commission on November 2 against Yangon Region Parliament speaker Tin Maung Tun for parking his car with the stickers portraying Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s image near the polling station in Dagon Township.

The speaker was casting his advance ballot at the polling station in Bo Yar Nyunt Street, Yaw Min Gyi Ward, Dagon Township.

In the letter, the PPP candidate says this violates Section 61 (a), (b) and (c) of the election law.

“The law prescribes that there shall not be any party logo or flag aimed at canvassing for votes around and near polling areas. That’s why I am opposing it,” said Thiha Zaw, regional parliamentary candidate for Dagon Township Constituency (1).

Before the general election on November 8, advance voting is taking place nationwide for voters aged 60 and above.
