The opening ceremony of the new office of the Eleven Media Group, No 1 media in the country, was held on a grand scale at No 65 Building at the corner of Myanma Gonyi Street and Myamarlar Street in Thakayta Industrial Zone in Thakayta Township, Yangon Region on January 1.

The full context of Policy Director-cum-Eleven Broadcast Chief Editor U Wai Phyo is as follows:

May all distinguished guests meet with physical and mental wellbeing, thank you all dignitaries for coming and gracing this grand event on an auspicious occasion.

Now it is known to all that we open the new office building of the EMG on a grand scale. We already introduced our New Management Team assigned to keep on shouldering responsibilities beyond 2020 to all those present here.

I hope like so. Our EMG’s media journey has taken almost two decades. It is known to all that the EMG has been on the road sticking to correct policy and firm conviction. At such, we would like to tell that we have to correct policy and firm conviction. We have to follow the motto “The Most Reliable Partner by the People, For the people” since the establishment of the EMG. In accordance with our motto, we served the interest of the people and our society by discharging media duties.

In this point, let me tell about our principles a little. If we work public-related services, our first attention is the faces of the public. It is of great importance to win the support and trust of the public. The importance of matured and stable journalism is to express different opinions approaching toward the truth in accord with the journalistic codes of ethic. Media is not an abstainer between truth and untruth or justice and injustice or lawfulness and lawlessness. Regarding the problem of a piece of news, if we take principle into consideration, we will have to try to choose truth and justice. These comments came from the articles written by EMG CEO Dr Than Htut Aung.

Our EMG has started media services since 2000 and we have faced favourable conditions and struggling ones throughout our media journey. I hope that these situations are already known to most of the dignitaries present here. In this state, what I would like to tell is that we will move on sticking to our policies whatever we are facing different forms of challenges. There may be oppressions, difficulties and struggling conditions in the time of different governments in the successive eras. It is already known to all that the media including our EMG are overcoming these challenges I mentioned. Our stance depends on the trust and support of all audiences and the people. If we didn’t see the trust and the support of the people, it would be totally impossible for us to stand like such situation today. The EMG has offered employment to about 400 staff. For that reason, let me to say thank our audience and our people very much.

What I continue to say is that our New Generation Team will move on sticking to our policies and firm conviction laid down by the EMG beyond 2020. In the set-up of Eleven Media Group, our CEO will work as chairman post, Dr Thein Myint as managing director and I as policy director-cum-chief editor of Eleven Broadcasting. This point is earlier mentioned by Sayar Dr Thein Myint. We are standing independently without relying on any assistance from any organization and we are independent media. Although we change our managements depending on the current situations, our premier stances remain unchanged and we will move on paying attention to independent editorial stance. Whatever we are facing changing systems and eras as well as different forms of challenges, I would like to reaffirm that our New Management Team would make strenuous efforts, standing tall and sticking to our policy in accord with the codes of ethics we follow throughout our life.

In this state, let me conclude my speech with a piece of advice shared by my CEO.

It means “If we are able to serve the interest of the country and most of the oppressed people, we regard it as the success for all and that for Eleven Media Group.

Thank all those present here very much.
