A meeting between lawmakers from the Pa-O National Organization(PNO) and local residents of Shwenyaung was held on the morning of May 11 at the Ngwe Kabar Nature Resort in Shwenyaung, Taunggyi Township.

The meeting was attended by PNO parliamentary representatives including State Hluttaw MPs Khun Kyi and Khun Saung Shwe, Pyithu Hluttaw representative Nan Kyin (aka Nan Sein), and Amyotha Hluttaw representative Khun Saw Lwin. The lawmakers held open discussions with local residents.

Ward elders, community leaders, and residents from Shwenyaung also attended the meeting and presented various local concerns and development needs.

Key issues discussed included rising prices and shortages of seeds and fertilizers for farmers, renovation and beautification of the Kone Hlaing Lake area and its surrounding roads, improvements to roads and the local market in Shwenyaung, as well as land confiscation issues in Aye Tharyar and industrial zones. Residents also raised concerns regarding difficulties in obtaining land ownership documents, including Forms 105 and 7, and land grants in Taunggyi Township.

The four lawmakers responded to the concerns and said they would coordinate with relevant government bodies and departmental officials to address the issues.

A local resident said the discussions mainly focused on improving infrastructure around Kone Hlaing Lake, including road paving and installation of streetlights, as well as difficulties faced by farmers in accessing seeds and fertilizers.

Residents also urged authorities to speed up and simplify the process of obtaining land ownership documents.

Shwenyaung is a town that mainly depends on agriculture, producing rice and other crops, and local farmers emphasized the importance of ensuring easy access to agricultural inputs needed for cultivation.
