People's Pioneer Party (PPP) is considering plans to run for the 2020 general election in seven regions, said Myint Maung Tun, one of the party leaders.

"We are planning to compete in all seven regions. We are reviewing how many votes there were, which party most people supported and statuses of political parties in the previous elections. We are considering plans to contest the coming election in all the seven regions even though we will not compete in every township. Public desire is very important. If people trust and rely on our party, we will plan to get people to choose candidates from our party. But now it is too early to say about details," Myint Maung Tun said.

He added regarding their policy on ethnic groups, his party wants them to be in charge of their own regions. If the parties in the states invite willingly, his party will cooperate, he said.

PPP does not expect a victory in the 2020 election but it expects getting a certain number of parliamentary representatives, he commented, adding that his party is trying to win public support.

"We will form township committees. We will organize interested party members. Then we will choose candidates depending on how much people trust them," said Myint Maung Tun.

PPP opened its headquarters at Kanbawza Tower in Sangyaung Township, Yangon.

A party launching ceremony took place at Melia Hotel in Yangon on November 30.

Party leaders have said they will focus on efforts for national development and national economic growth, but avoid centralization.

PPP was granted party registration by the Union Election Commission on October 23.
