The Peace Forum discussed the suspension of conscription during the election period, according to sources.

The Peace Forum, held in Nay Pyi Taw from June 25 to 27, saw individuals from different walks of life divided into two groups and discussed separately.

Dr Nyo Nyo Thin, a former Yangon Region MP who attended the forum, said that they discussed suspending burdens on the public, such as conscription, in areas where elections are held.

“During the election period, especially in areas where elections are to be held, conscription should be suspended in the pre-election period and the election period for six months or a year. It has been said that this should be suspended,” she said.

The Peace Forum 2025 was held in Nay Pyi Taw from June 25 to 27, and the forum received more than 120 discussion suggestions.
