The upcoming Peace Forum 2025 will be held in Nay Pyi Taw for three days, from June 25 to June 27, under the theme "From the Integration of Peace, Elections, and Federalism Towards a Tranquil and Prosperous New Nation." The event will bring together officials from various sectors for in-depth discussions.
Previously, from March 24 to 26, a related three-day forum called Peace Talk 2025 was led by the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC), featuring participants such as senior military officials, union ministers, ethnic armed group representatives, and political party delegates.
The sessions yielded 12 short-term recommendations and 10 long-term strategic proposals, aimed at advancing Myanmar’s peace process.
The long-term strategic recommendations were initiating constitutional reform dialogues even before new parliaments are formed, Widening peace awareness among the public, in cooperation with media and civil society through NSPNC, strengthening development in border areas to build trust between residents and the government, adopting active foreign policy with neighboring countries and major powers such as the US and Russia, preparing for new power domains, including political, economic, military, and AI-driven influence, Addressing non-traditional security challenges, especially cybersecurity, developing long-term strategies for resettlement, recovery and redevelopment, Empowering youth and women to take part in the peace process and implementing psychological and physical rehabilitation programs for populations affected by conflict.
The closing ceremony of Peace Talk 2025 on March 26 included a review and documentation of discussion outcomes from both political-security and economic-development tracks, reinforcing the forum’s role as a platform for inclusive dialogue toward lasting peace.
The upcoming Peace Forum 2025 aims to build on this foundation, bringing together decision-makers to develop coherent short-term and long-term peace strategies that could lead to a stable and democratic federal union.
