Pakokku still reports Covid-19 cases in villages despite a significant drop in town areas

Covid-19 positivity rates have decreased in urban areas of Pakokku Township, Magway Region, but some villages still see cases, according to testing data in the second week of September.

Twenty one people had their swabs tested on September 13, and three from rural areas tested positive for the virus.

On September 12 also, 28 people received testing and two tested positive. The two infected people are from Yasagyo Township and Myitche Village in Pakokku Township respectively.

No deaths were reported and four discharged from hospital on these two days.

On September 11, 99 people in Pakokku Township received Covid-19 testing. Among them, 13 tested positive for the coronavirus. Twelve infected people re from 12 villages in the township and one from Myaing Township.

Hospital records show that nearly 1,280 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Pakokku Township and over 120 died from June to September.

The township saw Covid-19 case surges from June to the third week of August in the third wave. Authorities have designated Pakokku as a stay-at-home township since then.
