As per information from the Health and Sports Ministry, over 900 are under restriction of movement in over 200 quarantine sites in Rakhine State.
In Rakhine State, from 16 to 25 August,80 people were found to have been affected by Covid-19 in Sittway, MraukU, Thandwe and Buthidaung townships. Till 22 August, 909 people have been under restriction of movement in 244 quarantine sites. Till 22 August, there are 9 in Maungdaw, 3 in Thandwe, 1 in Taungup, 3 in Buthidaung, 68 in Sittway, 1 in Kyauktaw and 3 in MraukU found to be affected by Covid-19.
Till 22 August over 19,000 in over 2,600 quarantine sites nationwide have been under restriction of movement. Those that have completed the 21-day period have been sent home but still under observation. In Sittway, the township where most cases were found, people have been asked to stay at home as per announcement made by the Rapid Response Team.
Apart from one Gene Xpert (2 modules) in Sittway People’s Hospital, one Gene Xpert (16 modules) was sent on 20 August. The team arranged for a medical microbiologist from another township to be attached to conduct lab tests.
The team is to make certain that quarantine sites and hospitals are ready in Sittway and other towns. The team is to make prior preparations to take curative measures for Bangalis in temporary relief centers should they be affected by the virus, those under observation and confirmed patients.
