International tankers have been unloading over 6 million gallons of petrol and diesel at Thilawa port in Yangon Region since September 25, according to a statement released by the Supervisory Committee on Import, Storage and Distribution of Fuel Oil.

The committee is taking measures to ensure domestic sufficiency of fuel oil after scrutiny. As such, MT Yu Yi Vessel is unloading 1.86 million gallons of diesel and 2.17 million gallons of premium diesel totaling 4.03 million gallons at the terminals of Thilawa port.

Meanwhile, another vessel MT Harmony One is unloading 2.13 million gallons of 92 Ron, thus bringing the total number of gallons to 6.16 million.

Currently, the supervisory committee is issuing daily reference price rates of fuel oil, based on MOPS rates from Singapore and calculations of premium, profit rates and transport charges.

According to the statement, the supervisory committee in cooperation with Myanmar Fuel Oil Importers and Distributors Association is distributing fuels to the townships of various regions and states based on their demand and remaining stock.

However, armed terrorists are attacking and robbing oil bowsers and barges, causing delays in transporting fuel to respective filling stations, the statement pointed out.

Supervisory measures are also being taken to meet fuel needs of some regions and states with endorsements from their respective governments and scrutinize fuel imports via border areas.
