Over 127 tons of illegal timber seized in seven days in Myanmar

According to the reports sent by the Forest Departments of Nay Pyi Taw and other states and regions, 127.5786 tons of illegal timber were seized within seven days from January 22 to 28.

The seized timber consisted of 23.2894 tons of illegal teak, 8.6178 tons of hardwood, and 95.6714 tons of other kinds of timber. In addition, eight heavy machinery/vehicles along with 13 perpetrators were also seized.

The most significant seizure was from Machanbaw township, Putao District, Kachin State, where a total of 74.6560 tons of ownerless logs consisting of illegal Kanyin, Kyaylan, Sagawa, and Thadi, totaling 89 logs were seized.
