One more confirmed case, bringing total to 22

Yangon—A 51-year-old woman with recent travel history tested positive for COVID-19, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 22, according to a statement by the Ministry of Health and Sports on 6 April.

Together with the 21st patient, the 22nd patient from South Okkalapa Township left the U.S. for South Korea on 24 March and arrived in Thailand on the evening of 25 March. The duo arrived back at Yangon International Airport on 26 March via Thailand. Both were being quarantined at a hotel in Botahtaung Township. The 22nd patient shared the same room with the 21st  patient.  Currently, the patient is in stable condition. 

The 24-year-old female (Case-21) with a travel history to the U.S, South Korea and Thailand arrived back in Yangon with her mother (Case-22) and younger brother. 

From 6 pm on 5 April to 6 pm on 6 April, 31 new patients were added to the list of Persons Under Investigation (PUI). 

The 19 patients—one at Teedim People’s Hospital in Chin State, 12 at Waibargi Specialist Hospital in Yangon, one at Kandawnadi Hospital in Mandalay, one at Nay Pyi Taw People’s Hospital, one at the People’s Hospital in Lashio, Shan State (North) and three at Pyay People’s Hospital— are in stable condition.

Two patients—one at Waibargi Specialist Hospital and one at Pyay People’s Hospital—are under intensive care.

Till 6 April, Myanmar has 22 confirmed cases. The 5th patient with the underlying cause died.
