One killed as police shot at locals demanding release of arrested protestors in Salin

A university student was shot dead by police as local residents gathered to demand the release of arrested protesters in front of the police station in Salin, Magway Region, on the morning of March 3, according to local sources. 

At least six were wounded in the police crackdown and Aung Myint Myat, a first-year student from Magway Technological University died at about 5pm, said an official from a social aid organization in Salin.  

“The student has fallen. He died at hospital about half an hour ago,” he said.  

The information was received at about 5 pm and some of the wounded are reportedly in serious condition.
