Bangladeshi officials handed over the list of 22,432 displaced persons to a Myanmar delegation during the third meeting of the joint task force of Myanmar and Bangladesh on repatriation of those who lived in Myanmar held in Dakar in October 2018.

For the smooth of resettlement of the returnees from Bangladesh, the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population is making village-wise lists and sending them to Bangladesh in batches. A list of 3,450 people was sent to July 11, 2019.

Under the bilateral agreement, Myanmar started preparations for repatriation on January 23, 2018, but no one has reentered the country so far.

However, till November 1 this year, 414 displaced people have entered Myanmar of their own accord, according to the Myanmar Embassy in Dakar.
