The Ministry of Information announced that there is no cause for concern after water overflowed from the spillway of Kyetmauktaung Dam in Kyaukpadaung Township, Mandalay Region.
According to reports, the Kyetmauktaung Dam, located in Nyaung-U District, exceeded its full storage level on September 30. As a result, water began flowing over the spillway. At around 3 p.m., the overflow reached a peak height of 3.40 feet, but by 6 p.m., it had decreased to 3.30 feet, indicating that water levels are gradually receding.
Authorities confirmed that both the dam and its spillway remain structurally sound and stable, with no dangerous conditions observed. However, since water has been flowing over the spillway, residents of villages along the Taungzin Creek have been advised to remain alert to the rising water levels in the creek.
