Yangon--There is no plan to immediately close factories and companies in Yangon Region through a lockdown, and the region government will carry out temporary shutdowns step by step and systematically (if necessary), said Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, at a meeting at the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (headquarters) in Yangon.

The meeting was also attended by President of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry U Zaw Min Win and entrepreneurs from the garment industry and industrial zones in Yangon.

As a first step, the authorities should prevent the people from the mass migration and cut relations between the towns and cities. There should be the continual operations of essential businesses and services for the convenience of people when the city goes into lockdown, UMFCCI President U Zaw Min Win suggested.

Officials from the UMFCCI discussed the survivals of both entrepreneurs and employees and the revivals of suspended businesses.

The UMFCCI has suggested the continual operations of 18 essential businesses including foodstuff industry, grocery stores and retail shops due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
