Although there are limits in Myanmar-Thai border areas during COVID-19 pandemic, the trade volume did not decline and it earned U.S $ 1192.160 million before this fiscal year, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

Myanmar earned US $1192.160 million from October 1 to September 25 of 2019-2020, and so, compared with last year's trade of US $ 950.841 million, it can trade more than US $ 241.319 million.

The trade volume from the Myawaddy border trade is higher  US $ 240 million than last year's amount but import materials are less than normal and corn export to Myanmar increased than the last year amount.

“In the COVID-19 pandemic, the import amount has declined but the export is higher. The reason is local demand during the pandemic has reduced and the import amount percent has declined. But, corn export has been remarkably higher than last year,” said Teza Aung, Myawaddy District administrator.

Myanmar has exported US $ 380.075 million of agricultural products such as corn, beans, onion, chili and CMP garments till September 25.
