The partial blackout will occur until May, said Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, a spokesman for the State Administration Council (SAC) at a press conference held on March 24.

"It's going to be like this until mid-May. We will make to reduce the partial blackout as little as possible,” said Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun.

He added that the Ministry of Electricity and Energy was working to increase the production of 195 megawatts of electricity by using natural gas from Shwe natural gas project before the summer, and to complete the Kyaukphyu natural gas and waste heat power plant as soon as possible.

In addition, solar projects approved by the previous NLD government could not be contracted later. He said that they are encouraging and assisting these projects.

"There are some solar projects that were approved by the previous government. Some of them are still pending due to the contract. The current government is encouraging and supporting them,” he said.

At present, Group A and Group B are divided in Yangon Region to provide electricity on a four-hour basis.
