A total of 112 people tested positive for Covid-19 after 7,757 lab samples had been tested during the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health announced at 8pm on January 23.

Moreover, one patient died of Covid-19 complications during the period, the ministry reported.

Up till 8pm January 23 since the start of the outbreak in Myanmar, a total of 6,274,185 lab samples were tested, 534,017 cases detected, and 19,310 deaths reported.

During the last 24 hours, 138 patients were discharged from hospitals bringing the total number of those discharged to 512,201.

The Covid-19 tests were conducted at the labs of the Ministry of Health, by means of GeneXpert machines in hospitals in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, regions and states,  in 1000 bedded Military Hospital-1 in Yangon, 1000 bedded Military Hospital-2 in Nay Pyi Taw,  in 700 bedded Military Hospital-1 in PyinOoLwin,  in 100 bedded Military Hospital-9 in Lashio,  by Kalaymyo Military PCR, in private hospitals and labs,  in hospitals in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, regions and states, and by Covid-19 Rapid Antigen Diagnostic Test in the Public Health Departments.
