Three more Myanmar citizens returning from India on relief flights have tested positive for the Omicron variant bringing the total number of Omicron cases to 19, the Ministry of Health announced on the night of January 11.
The ministry is taking constant monitoring measures for the new mutated virus and announcing infections of SARS CoV-2 Variant Omicron found in those returning from overseas on relief flights.
Of the samples of those who tested positive for Covid-19, four suspected samples were sent to No.1 Defence Services Hospital (1,000 beds) on January 9 for screening. Then, three of them were found to be infected with the Omicron variant, and the patients are Myanmar citizens who returned from India, the ministry said.
The patients infected with the Omicron virus are receiving treatment in separate wards of respective hospitals. The passengers who were among them on the same flights are also in strict quarantine with their samples having tested several times, the health ministry reported.
