Myanmar migrant workers returned to Kawthaung

Seventy Myanmar migrant workers imprisoned in southern Thailand for committing various crimes returned to Kawthaung on June 5.

They were granted amnesty by the king of Thailand   according to an official.

74 Myanmar workers (62 males and 12 females) were sent back to Kawthaung to Ranong in Thailand.

They were welcomed by chairman of Kawthaung Township administrative council Aung Cho and departmental officials. Moe Wai and a team helping Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand also donated food and COVID-19 protection equipment. The men were placed at the social welfare department in Kawthaung and women were placed at quarantine centers in Khamauk Gyi. All the returnees were from Taninthayi Region.
